Compress a PDF
Advanced workflow
When to use this
A PDF is too large to email or upload, usually because it’s full of high-resolution images or scans.
- Open the file in your workspace.
- Choose Compress from the export or document menu.
- Export — Orifold downsamples oversized images, then losslessly repacks the file’s internal structure with a qpdf object-stream pass.
Note
Compression validates the result automatically after the pass completes, before the file reaches disk.
Tip
Text-only PDFs barely shrink — compression mainly helps files with large embedded images or scans.
