v0.11.0 — Fold the whole stack, compare the drafts
Released August 30, 2026
Orifold is in beta, on the road to 1.0.
Fold a folder without touching the originals
Section titled “Fold a folder without touching the originals”File → Fold a Folder… applies OCR, watermarking, and/or compression to every PDF in a chosen
folder. Results go to a collision-safe Folded subfolder, progress is reported per file, and one
bad PDF does not abort the rest. Repeat runs skip that output subtree instead of reprocessing
generated files. Every output passes structural validation before it lands.
Compare two drafts on one screen
Section titled “Compare two drafts on one screen”File → Compare With… pairs the workspace with another PDF. Visual changed regions, word-level addition/removal counts, a changed-pages strip, and a manual page offset make differences easier to find without changing either source.
Read aloud from the sentence you chose
Section titled “Read aloud from the sentence you chose”Select text and choose View → Read Aloud from Here. Orifold begins at that sentence and keeps the existing follow-along highlight; an unmatched selection safely falls back to the page start.
OCR with an explicit preservation policy
Section titled “OCR with an explicit preservation policy”The Inspector now exposes scans-only versus all-visible page selection, automatic or explicit language, continue-after-failure behavior, progress and cancellation. A quality receipt reports recognized and skipped pages, confidence, review items, and postflight validation. Searchable text is merged into the original page rather than rebuilding it.
Editing hardening
Section titled “Editing hardening”Inline text and compatible object edits now preserve composition more reliably through replay, rotation, undo/redo, save, reopen, and export. Unsupported styles and ambiguous geometry continue to fail closed. Object editing remains beta.
Compatibility and privacy
Section titled “Compatibility and privacy”All document processing remains local. Orifold requires macOS 14 Sonoma or newer and ships as a universal Apple Silicon + Intel app. Public builds remain ad-hoc signed and not Apple-notarized unless the release signing secrets are configured.
