v0.12.1 — Trust what you see

Release notes

Released September 26, 2026

Beta

Orifold is in beta, on the road to 1.0.

Compare With… now includes enabled watermarks, page numbers, Bates labels, stamps, hanko, images, and under/over PDF overlays in the workspace’s visual evidence. Text counts still read the original member PDF bytes, so visual ink does not invent a wording change. If Orifold cannot prepare the decorated visual, that channel is marked unavailable. Cropped and rotated pages retain their page geometry during preparation.

A mark that overlaps a placed signature or stored positioned decoration is refused before byte mutation. A stored decoration without reliable bounds blocks redaction anywhere on that page because the editable source could otherwise be drawn again on save or export. Complex page-scale vector paths and shadings that cannot be safely split are also refused; simple page-wide backgrounds can remain under a black box without rasterizing the whole page. The decision and result copy explains that boundary in all six languages.

Redaction now preserves page labels, embedded attachments, and unaffected annotations through apply, undo, and redo.

  • Thumbnails refresh after document-byte changes while stable row identity and selection remain.
  • Cancelling one encrypted-file prompt advances to the next queued file.
  • Sidebar document and page rows accept Return for selection and expose VoiceOver Select, Move Up, and Move Down actions.

An early output-directory binding failure also now has one descriptor owner, closing both local descriptors while publishing nothing.

Document processing remains local. Orifold requires macOS 14 Sonoma or newer and ships as a universal Apple Silicon + Intel app. Public builds remain ad-hoc signed and are not Apple-notarized unless release signing secrets are configured.
