Export & save problems

Export failed with a structural check error

Section titled “Export failed with a structural check error”

Every export runs a qpdf structural check before writing to disk. If it fails, the source file likely has an underlying issue — try re-importing the original file, or run Sanitize first if the file came from an untrusted source.

Check the location shown in the save panel at the moment you exported — Orifold writes exactly there, with no hidden folder or upload step. Search Spotlight for the filename if you’re unsure.

A password-protected export won’t open in another app

Orifold uses real AES-256 (PDF 2.0 / R6) encryption. A handful of older PDF readers don’t support R6 — try a current version of Preview, Acrobat, or another modern reader.

Text-only PDFs have little to compress — the compression pass mainly reduces file size on documents with large embedded images or scans.
