v0.7 — A bulletproof PDF engine underneath

Released July 5, 2026

Orifold v0.7 adds a native qpdf engine alongside PDFKit and PDFium, gating every export behind a structural integrity check.

  • Corrupt PDFs are repaired, not rejected — a qpdf recovery pass runs automatically on import when the native reader fails. See Import files.
  • Real AES-256 password protection — protected exports now use qpdf’s R6 encryption handler, verified after every export. See Password-protect a PDF.
  • Sanitize for sharing — strip auto-run actions, embedded JavaScript, embedded files, and (opt-in) metadata. See Sanitize before sharing.
  • Lossless structural compression — a qpdf object-stream pass follows image downsampling for extra size wins, especially on text-heavy PDFs. See Compress a PDF.
  • Every export is structurally validated before it reaches disk. See Export integrity checks.
  • Reader Mode and Document Comfort presets for easier long-document reading. See Document Comfort.
  • Full six-language localization — English, Español, Français, हिन्दी, 简体中文, 日本語. See Change the app language.
  • Gami & Ori, the origami companions, and a Recently Viewed shelf on the empty-state screen. See Meet Gami & Ori and Recently viewed files.
  • Gami redesigned as an origami Bernedoodle, with a lighter hint bubble that keeps clear of your document, collapses to a small badge in cramped windows or while exporting, and a new Hide Gami Tips toggle for quieting hints without hiding the companion. See Meet Gami & Ori.
  • Ori redesigned as her own character — an origami Siberian with a plush cream ruff, tufted ears, and a tail that wraps composedly around her paws — with a distinct curious, clever, quietly-in-charge voice, plus a one-time hint that teaches you can switch companions. See Meet Gami & Ori.
